When it comes to installing your lights ensuring a water proof connection is paramount. We recommend that your joins are soldered and then sealed with a heat shrink cap and heat shrink tube. The job of this outer heat shrink tube is to stop any moisture wicking up through the cables outer and inner sheaths. The heat shrink caps that we place over the soldered ends protects the joins made by the installer, but these will not ultimately stop small amounts of moisture from being drawn up through the main cable runs when the heating and cooling process occurs. Please check with your installers how they are going to do their joins as these little preventative measures can make all the difference.
Unfortunately too many people miss out on this second layer of protection, but if done right the first time you will have a system that should give you many years of pleasure.
If it is not something you have done before please check out the installation instructions included with your light fitting or check out our blog page on how to create proper connections.
