A well designed home reflects the personality of its owners, taking into consideration how spaces should make the occupants feel and relate to their surroundings. In a recent project with directors Melissa and Rowan from Mosmo Living we explored a variety of lighting techniques that provide functional, ambient and feature lighting to set the scene for whatever the occasion. The modern high pitched ceilings invite plenty of natural light into the living spaces, whilst the pastel colour palette provides a relaxed and sophisticated vibe.
Trying to keep the ceilings clean of downlights was the main focus of our lighting design, especially considering the height and angle. Reflected lighting through the use of wall lights and hidden LED strip lights enabled us to offer plenty of ambient light whilst a few selected pendants were utilised to offer task lighting over the bench and tables.
The Unios FX 48V Track Light suspended over the island bench is very much on trend at the moment with an array of fixtures to choose from. One of our favourites is the darklighter module which creates the most incredible task lighting with absolutely no glare. The addition of the small spotlights on the end only add to its flexibility and aesthetics.
Slim line pendants like the Artist pendant light by Nordlux are an affordable option that offers good practical light over a dining room table, especially when looking to hang them low and make a real feature of them.
To really capture the beauty of the racked ceiling we used the Arkos Lip Wall Uplights. Arkos is a well renowned lighting brand designing and manufacturing in Barcelona. In this Mosmo Living display home we loved the curves of the Lip Wall Light which kept with the softer edges of the custom designed table and kitchen bench. The wall lights flow from inside through to the outdoor entertaining area creating a feeling of one larger area.

The Musa wall light (pictured above) also plays on the curves and softness that the designers have reinforced throughout the home. Two of these wall lights were plenty of light to illuminate the stairwell and connecting hallway, again removing the need for downlights and enhancing the decor of the home.
In the bedrooms and bathrooms our flexible and dotless Luna Mini LED strip accentuates the joinery detail, offering interest and ambient light to soften the space. Our Orb ball wall lights are a huge hit also a radiant bedside light.
Our simple and discrete Titanium Starlight provides a soft wash down the beautiful feature tiles. These are the perfect lighting solution for your shower providing just the right amount of indirect light as well as having the ability to highlight feature titles.
