Warm white, Cool white, Neutral white??   .......Are you confused?

Unless you are into photography or specialised lighting the concept of colour temperature can be quite foreign. Basically every light emits a different colour of white. Halogens are often referred to as yellow light whereas fluro's have traditionally been a bluer light. If the light has a yellow hue we call it warm white but if it's more blue then we refer to it as cool white. Pure white is then referred to as Neutral white.

The great thing about LED lighting is the luxury of being able to choose the colour temperature you desire when purchasing. At LED Outdoor we strongly believe in using light to enhance the environment you are in. Since we focus on lighting to be used at nighttime - whether it's in your garden or your kitchen -  we always recommend Warm white. Not any type of Warm white though - we love what is called 3000K on the temperature scale. We find this a really good balance of being warm but not too yellow.

Way too often we see builders and clients choosing cool white in their houses because it is brighter. Yes, this is the case, but Cool white is like the sun, so when you see this cool light at night time your brain thinks it should be awake. This is why hospitals, schools and office buildings commonly use Cool white for their lighting but is this what you want at home?
We believe your home and garden should be a place to relax and unwind from the grind of daily life. Warm light from your LED's helps you to achieve this. As humans warm light is more natural as history shows us relying on wood fires and candles at night time.

Within the house the Cool White down lights are harsh and unwelcoming. Whereas the garden provides a much softer ambience.

Don't think warm light still can't be bright. In our own home we have just installed the Titanium 15W Down lights in Warm White 3000K and the quality of light through our Kitchen is amazing. It's comforting on the eye, yet there is still not a detail we would miss. Remember where possible add a dimmer to your indoor or patio lights. We love being able to turn ours down when we are entertaining or just want to relax.

For outdoor garden lighting we also love 3000K as it gives warmth while still highlighting the natural colours of the vegetation. At night, to the eye it looks vibrant and not at all yellow.
